2012 Cook Off

Cambridge Research Park, by kind permission of our managing agent clients, Ashdown Phillips, was the venue for the 2012 Incentive FM ‘Cook Off'.

We assembled four of our Chefs from around the country and each was invited to design a menu within a broad description and in each case on a tight food cost budget. The plan here was to ensure we were being realistic and relevant in what was to be being prepared and of course consumed by our hungry tasting audience.

We invited staff who work at the magnificent Research Park for different tenants to come and join us for a lunch prepared in our specially assembled field kitchen, under the watchful eyes of our Catering Manager, Jason Whitley, and Catering Consultant, Jonathan Bradley.

Our chefs were Gordon from Top Right Group in London, Mike from Agfa in Leeds, Stella from Cambridge Science Park itself and Marios who was representing Hexagon Tower in Manchester.

- Gordon prepared Moroccan lamb in a sesame bun with Harissa dressing and an Arabic salad
- Mike made poached salmon wrapped in pancetta with red onions lemon and dill poached vegetables
- Stella prepared the vegetarian offer of tomato and cheese pasta bake with and a crisp side salad of broccoli
- Marios provided the spicy flare of a pair of chicken curries with turmeric rice, peppers and aubergine

This year's competition revolved around people putting their money quite literally where their mouth is! - you pay what you think the meal was worth and our diners were able to enjoy any permutation of the four dishes that had been specially prepared for the 85 ‘consumer experts' who visited us on the day.

All the money raised, just under £ 250 goes to our 2012 charity - The Teenage Cancer Trust, and the winner for the second year running was counted to be - Mike Friel, who was presented with a set of kitchen knives as his prize for the day by Incentive FM Managing Director, Martin Reed.
