The Teenage Cancer Trust

The Teenage Cancer TrustBy Bill Pollard, Incentive FM Group Deputy Managing Director

The Teenage Cancer Trust has been our nominated company charity for the past few years and we have raised over £15,000 for the charity in that time. Jeremy Waud and Bill Pollard were invited along to the opening of the £2.6 million Teenage Cancer Trust Hub.

The Teenage Cancer Trust inpatient unit is for the 13-19 year olds and is designed to feel like a home from home, where young people feel comfortable and relaxed. The walls are bright, the furniture modern and there are great social spaces with a pool table and juke box and comfortable sofas to watch films and meet other patients.

The Cancer Centre is the most advanced and largest of its kind in Europe and leads the world in using improved drug therapies and technological advances to provide a day care service for young people with cancer.

In addition to the two units that have been built, the Teenage Cancer Trust also fund specialist staff so that young cancer patients receive the right care at the right time. It also ensures that young people are given the opportunity to join the latest drug trials and that transitions between services are as smooth as possible.
