Around the Park

The Security Team and Management Team at St. Stephen's took park in the Jane Tomlinson 10K run

We raised over £2,000 for the Daisy Appeal .The Daisy Appeal is a local charity established to help improve treatment and research opportunities in a variety of common diseases, most notably cancer, heart disease and neurological illness.

Having successfully raised £8 million to enable the construction of a Medical Research Centre at Castle Hill Hospital in 2008, the Daisy Appeal has now moved onto Phase 2 of the Appeal - to create a permanent patient scanning and research centre which will cost £6.8 million.

Construction of the new centre is on course for completion in December 2013, in time for the arrival of the PET-CT Scanning equipment. A three month commissioning period will follow, with an expected opening date of Spring 2014.

Research and treatment facilities for people in the Hull & East Yorkshire region are now greatly improved and with the addition of this equipment, we will be the first in Yorkshire to provide advanced imaging facilities directly linked to an on-going scientific research programme.

I would like to thank everyone that made a donation.

St Stephen’s Shopping Centre Wins Retail Week’s Prestigious ‘Retail Destination of the Year’ Award

St Steven's Shopping CentreI am delighted to tell you that St Stephen’s Shopping Centre was named ‘Retail Destination of the Year’ at retail Oscars, the Retail Week Awards last night.

Judges praised St Stephen’s for aiding in the re-invigoration of Hull, attracting a host of international brands such as Superdry and Lipsy, generating an increase in footfall at the scheme of more than 2.5 million since 2008 and consistently outperforming regional and national benchmarks in terms of both sales and footfall.

Retail Week’s Editor, Chris Brook-Carter, said that the centre “has successfully helped to re-energise Hull, bringing new retailers to the town and boosting footfall. Responding to the ever changing consumer, the centre has succeeded in delivering an experience to its customers and adapting its approach to help retailers deliver their multichannel strategy.”

St Stephen’s beat a shortlist which included last year’s winner Westfield Stratford, the Bullring and our very own Meadowhall!
It’s a huge and much deserved achievement and congratulations to everyone involved in the centre’s continued success.
